Wine Bar in Wells
The Pressoir is a wine bar, wine shop and restaurant in Wells tucked into a quiet cobbled corner off Sadler Street, a few steps from Wells Cathedral and the Market Place. Festooned with greenery, easy to settle into, and just as happy to pour you a glass on your own as to seat a long table of friends.
A hidden gem off Sadler Street
A relaxed wine bar in the heart of Wells
The Pressoir is run by wine enthusiast David Schroetter, who grew up surrounded by the vineyards of the Loire Valley. That French, unhurried feeling runs through the whole room. It is part bistro and part wine shop, somewhere you can drop in for a glass and a plate of charcuterie, or settle in for the afternoon. If you are looking for somewhere in Wells to meet up, unwind and drink something genuinely good, this is it.
Wines chosen by David
David chooses every wine himself, from hand-picked European growers, some of them exclusive to the UK. Our own house wines, with labels hand-painted by David, are available by the glass at £8, or £9.50 for a large glass, and there are European guest beers and ciders on the blackboard.
And here is the part people love: any bottle on the shop shelves can be drunk in for £10 corkage, so the whole wine shop effectively becomes your wine list. Read more about our wine shop in Wells. If you would like David to keep choosing for you at home, David's Monthly Wine Selection delivers a case of his picks each month.

Selected dates through the year
Supper clubs, tastings and special evenings
We do not run a conventional evening restaurant service. Selected evenings are set aside for supper clubs, wine tasting evenings and one-off themed events. A supper club typically brings a multi-course menu from Daniel with an optional wine flight chosen by David. Booking is essential.
Our Reserve Club membership gives you 10% off everything, complimentary seasonal tastings and the newsletter a week early. Places are capped at fifty and the club is currently full. Read more about our supper clubs and wine tasting evenings in Wells, and see upcoming dates on What's On at The Pressoir.
