Coffee Shop in Wells, Somerset
The Pressoir is a coffee shop, wine bar and kitchen in Heritage Courtyard, a quiet cobbled corner off Sadler Street, a few steps from Wells Cathedral. We open at 9am Monday to Saturday, and the same room that pours wine in the evening serves coffee and homemade cake all day.
Coffee in Wells
Proper espresso, made well and served without fuss. Flat whites, cappuccinos, lattes, americanos, mochas and hot chocolate, with whole, skimmed, oat, soy or almond milk, and caramel, gingerbread or hazelnut syrup if you'd like one. Prices run from £2.70 for an espresso to £3.60 for a mocha.
Alongside the coffee there's a range of homemade cakes, baked in-house and changing through the week, plus pastries and our full breakfast menu from 9am to 11.30am.
Tea and soft drinks
Green tea, English breakfast, mint, Earl Grey, berry and camomile at £2.40, and a loose leaf menu that includes carrot and ginger, red fruit, liquorice root, heavenly lemon, peppermint, and lemongrass and ginger infusions. Just ask a member of the team. There's also orange juice, lemonade, ginger beer, sparkling elderflower and Belu still or sparkling water.
A quiet place to sit
Heritage Courtyard is tucked away from the traffic on Sadler Street, which makes it an unusually calm spot in the middle of the city. Festooned with greenery, the room suits reading, working for an hour or meeting a friend, and the art centre next door is worth a look while you're here. It's a short walk from Wells Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace and the Market Place, so it works well as a stop mid-morning or after a wander round town.
From coffee to wine
The wine shop lines the walls, so the transition from a morning coffee to a glass at lunch is a short one. David chooses every wine himself from hand-picked European growers, and any bottle on the shelves can be drunk in for a small corkage fee.
