Dog Friendly Restaurant & Café in Wells

Yes, dogs are welcome at The Pressoir. Bring them in.

We're a wine bar, wine shop and restaurant in Heritage Courtyard, a quiet cobbled corner off Sadler Street in Wells, a few steps from the Cathedral. Dogs are welcome inside, and there's a water bowl if yours needs one. All we ask is that they're on a lead and settled next to your table.

Why it works for dog walkers

Heritage Courtyard is tucked back from the traffic on Sadler Street, so there's no busy road to negotiate on the way in, and the courtyard itself is quiet. Inside, the room is festooned with greenery and set up for people to settle in rather than eat and run, which suits a dog that's just been walked and would rather sleep under a chair.

We're a natural stop if you've been walking on the Mendips, around the Bishop's Palace moat, or up to Tor Hill, and we're a short walk from the Cathedral Green.

Breakfast, lunch and coffee

We open at 9am Monday to Saturday. Breakfast runs until 11.30am, lunch from 12pm to 3.30pm, and coffee and homemade cake all day. Everything is cooked by our chef Daniel using seasonal ingredients from local producers.

If it's just a coffee and a sit down after a walk, that's completely fine, you don't need to be eating.

Wine, too

The wine shop lines the walls, and any bottle on the shelves can be drunk in for a small corkage fee. Read more about our wine bar in Wells.

A few practical notes

  • Dogs are welcome inside, on a lead
  • There's a water bowl, just ask if you can't see one
  • We're a small room, so at busy periods we may seat you where there's space for a dog rather than at your first choice of table
  • Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere, always
