Lunch in Wells
Looking for lunch in Wells? The Pressoir serves lunch every day from midday, tucked into Heritage Courtyard just a few steps from Wells Cathedral. It's a relaxed spot for a proper sit-down lunch, whether that's a quick croque and a glass of wine or a longer table of small plates to share.
Lunch served every day
Lunch runs from 12pm to 3.30pm, Monday to Saturday, cooked to order by our chef Daniel, who has more than twenty years' cooking rooted in Wells, using seasonal ingredients from local producers. The menu is French-inspired and changes with the seasons, with daily specials on the blackboard.
What's on the lunch menu
A few of the dishes to look out for:
- Charcuterie board - cured ham, pâté de campagne, bresaola and coppa, with toasted sourdough and pickles. From £16.00
- Croques - monsieur, madame or mademoiselle, served with dressed leaves and a grated carrot salad. From £13.00
- Beef bourguignon - slow-roasted beef, lardons, mushrooms and red wine. £18.00
- Bouillabaisse du jour - the day's catch poached in an aromatic fish soup. £18.00
- Small plates - king prawns Provençal, wild mushrooms fricassée, smoked fish chowder and more, from £9.50
See the full list, including sides and puddings, on our menu page.
A glass of wine with lunch
Every wine is chosen by David, and any bottle from the shop shelves can be drunk in for a small corkage fee, so lunch is a good excuse to try something new. More about the wine bar.
