Where to find us

Our full address is 10 Heritage Courtyard, Sadler Street, Wells, Somerset BA5 2RR. Heritage Courtyard is a peaceful, pedestrian courtyard reached through a short passage off Sadler Street, the road that runs between the Market Place and Wells Cathedral. We are only a few steps from the Swan Hotel, so if you can see the Swan you are almost at our door. Look for the archway into the courtyard and follow it through, and you will find The Pressoir waiting for you.

Finding us on foot

Wells is a small and very walkable city, and wherever you are in the centre you are usually only a few minutes from the courtyard.

  From the Market Place

  Head up Sadler Street towards the Cathedral. After a short walk you will find the entrance to Heritage Courtyard on your left, close to the Swan Hotel.

  Around two to three minutes on foot.

  From Wells Cathedral

  Make your way from Cathedral Green onto Sadler Street and you are almost there. The courtyard is just past the Swan Hotel on your right.

  A couple of minutes from the West Front.

  From the Bishop's Palace

  Sadler Street is a short stroll from the Palace gatehouse, which makes us an easy addition to a morning spent in the gardens.

  Roughly two minutes on foot.

Market days

Wells holds its street market in the Market Place on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so you cannot park in the square itself on those days. The perimeter car parks are your best bet, and the walk in takes you past some of the prettiest corners of the city. Arriving without a car

• By bus or coach

  Wells Bus Station is on Princes Road, BA5 2DT, around a six to seven minute walk from Heritage Courtyard. Regular services connect Wells with Bath on routes 173 and 174, Bristol on the 376 and the Mendip Xplorer, and Shepton Mallet, among others.

  From the bus station, follow the signs towards the city centre and the Cathedral, make your way onto Sadler Street, and look for the courtyard entrance near the Swan Hotel.

• By train

  Wells does not have its own railway station. The nearest mainline stations are Castle Cary, Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.

  From any of the three you can continue to Wells by bus or taxi, and the bus station is a short walk from our door.

Coming by car

Wells sits just off the A39 and the A371, roughly a 40 minute drive from both Bath and Bristol. Signage for the city centre and the car parks is plentiful from whichever direction you approach. Once you have parked, the walk to Heritage Courtyard is short and well worth taking slowly, past the Cathedral, the Market Place and the independent shops that give Wells its character.
