What to expect

  • A small room

    We are a small independent restaurant and wine bar in Wells, tucked into a cobbled courtyard rather than a large dining room. Tables are limited, so weekends and market days are worth booking ahead.

  • Wine chosen by David

    Every bottle on the shop shelves can be drunk at your table for £10 corkage, so the whole shop becomes the wine list.

  • Cooked by Daniel

    French-inspired plates using seasonal ingredients from local producers. Breakfast until 11.30am, lunch from midday to 2.30pm.

The Pressoir, 10 Heritage Courtyard, Wells, Somerset BA5 2RR. Breakfast is served 9am to 11.30am and lunch midday to 2.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Friday and Saturday opening continues until 7pm, but this is not conventional evening restaurant service. Supper clubs, tastings and special evenings are listed separately. Do I need to book a table?
Not always. We keep tables for walk-ins and you are very welcome to just come in. Booking is worth it for weekends, for market days on Wednesday and Saturday, and for any group of four or more.
How quickly will you confirm my booking?
Usually the same day. Nothing is held until David has emailed you back, so please treat your request as a request rather than a confirmed table.
Can you seat a large group?
We can, but it depends on the day. Set the number of guests and David will come back to you about what is possible. For anything substantial, see our weddings and private events page.
Are dogs welcome at The Pressoir?
Yes, throughout. Water bowls at the door and a biscuit if they are lucky. There is more on our dog friendly page.
How do I book a supper club or tasting evening?

Can you cater for allergies?
Please tell us in the notes when you book and mention it again when you order. Our staff will talk you through the ingredients in any dish.
